We run the utilities we build
Northlands Energy is a national independent power producer and EPC, and a specialist utility company, headquartered in Randburg, Johannesburg. We generate energy with state-of-the-art solar and battery storage, managed by the Northlands Energy EMS, powered by world-leading AI. We meter and bill it on billing-grade meters, with both STS prepaid and virtual prepaid. As water specialists, we install water backup with precision metering, and run billing-grade sub-metering for multi-tenant property. And through Utility Connect, our connectivity business, we connect buildings with an ISP powered by renewable energy.

Northlands Energy is a national independent power producer and EPC specialist. We design, build and manage solar, battery storage and smart metering for commercial, industrial and property developments, from engineering and procurement through construction to ongoing support. Systems run from rooftop solar to containerised battery plant, tailored to the property. You can purchase outright, take a structured lease or choose a long-term power purchase agreement.

We don’t hand over and walk away
We are not installers who disappear after commissioning. As an independent power producer we fund, own and maintain many of the plants we build, so our commercial interests stay aligned with yours for the life of the system.
On a PPA we stay for the full term: we operate the plant, maintain it and bill for the power it makes.

Power, water and connectivity, from one company
Power
Solar and battery storage, the Northlands Energy EMS and billing-grade meters. We fund, build, own and operate the plant on your site, or build it for you to own.
Water
Water specialists. We install water backup, with storage systems, sophisticated pump solutions and precision metering, plus state-of-the-art leak detection.
Connectivity
Utility Connect, our connectivity business, is an ISP powered by renewable energy. It grew out of Northlands Energy and runs from our home at Northlands Deco Park.
