Payments

How to pay for your power.

Virtual prepaid customers top up by card or Instant EFT through the portal, any time. Or pay by direct EFT, with no transaction fee.

Ways to pay

Two ways to pay today

Commercial and residential customers pay the same way. On virtual prepaid, the portal is quickest. Direct EFT helps you avoid credit and debit card transaction fees.

Direct EFT

The EFT process in four steps

To help you avoid credit and debit card transaction fees, you can purchase your electricity via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Please follow the steps below.

  1. Make an EFT payment

Transfer your payment to our Nedbank account, using the bank details on this page. Using the correct reference ensures your payment is allocated to the correct electricity account.

  2. Send proof of payment

Email it to payments@northlandsenergy.co.za. Please include:

    • Company Name, or the name on your account if residential
    • Property/Unit Number (if applicable)
    • Purchase Amount
    • Contact Number

If an incorrect reference was used, please provide both the reference entered and your company name, or the name on your account if residential.

  3. Payment verification

Once your payment reflects in our bank account, our accounts team will verify and allocate it. Direct EFT payments may take up to 24 hours to reflect.

  4. Wallet credited

Your wallet is credited, with no token. STS customers buy tokens from their banking app or a retailer. What happens next

Questions

Short answers

How long does a direct EFT take to reflect?

A direct EFT has no transaction fee and can take up to 24 hours to reflect. Backup power and network issues can sometimes make a payment take longer to show on your transaction log.

Do I get a token?

Only on STS prepaid. STS customers buy tokens from their banking app or a retailer. Virtual prepaid has no token. Your wallet is credited, and once you are back in credit your supply returns automatically.

I used the wrong reference. What now?

Email your proof of payment to payments@northlandsenergy.co.za, with both the reference you entered and your company name, or the name on your account if residential.

What reference do residential customers use?

The name on your account. Residential customers pay the same way as commercial customers: through the portal by card or Instant EFT, or by direct EFT.

How do I sign in to the portal?

Use the same login you’ve always used to buy prepaid power. Trouble signing in? Email support or WhatsApp us.

Why does my balance fall when I use no power?

On virtual prepaid, fixed charges deduct in small increments over the month, so your balance can fall slightly with no usage.

How often does my balance update?

On virtual prepaid, about every 30 minutes.
